It was a pretty long discussion to fix the places for our 3 day trip, 1 thing in mind was to visit Kodachadri and we had in mind that our 2 days should go to Kodachadri and we had 1 day that needs to plan. After considering many places in the malnaad region we finally fixed Jog falls for the 1st day of the trip.
Bhattara Mane gate!!
Drops do love Spider Web

We started Bengaluru at 3 AM on the 1st day and reached jog falls at 2 PM after losing some time here and there during the journey due to Vehicle puncture and few stops in b/w for breakfast and smoking as the team loved to smoke in that weather, only few ;-)

We spent our day1’s noon and evening in Jog. 2 things which should be done here is

1. Go down till the rock which is just opposite to the fall (In front of Raja, around 25-30 yards of distance), sleep for a while on the rock and start looking up. You would feel the heaven.

2. Go to the top of the falls (Mungaru male shooting spot), put your heart in adventurous mode and look down for a while.

How to get to Kodachadri

We started pretty late at sagara, it was around 11 and reached Kodachadri at 1 30. Had meals there and every1 took Areca Nut Leaf Hats and a cover which would cover us from rain and stared the trek at 3 Pm.
With the guides help we reached the bhattara mane (which is 1.5kms away from View point) at 7:30 Pm and stayed there that night.

Leech game:  Haav nodidru hedruthidvo ilwo, iddak hedhridavre jaasthi!!!

Leech
It was a rainy season and as soon as we started our trek we found that leeches started sucking our blood. Every1 started dancing initially to unplug the leeches but we had enough tools to combat the leeches, we did not suffer much in dealing those tiny crawling animal.

Fungus Fun:   Tumba time hudgirna nodi biddhidivi,1st time kaal jaari biddirodhu!!!

Yellow green Fungus was spread all over the path even on the rocks. It was a pretty good fun when people started falling down suddenly with a dhad!!! dhad!!! sound due to the soft and slippery paths. Few got hurt, few got fun ;-)

Gorgeous green and dangerous too
It was just like a Jungle and full of watery green. We enjoyed the freshness of breeze, fog and the Drizzling on this Greenland. During trek, our driver was lucky to see a snake, a rat snake. But after reaching the top we got to know that even king cobras exists here. Thank god we got to know it once we are done with the trek.

Waterfall:
Hidlumane waterfalls

Hidlumane waterfalls
We had to cross few small waterfalls that flow over the trek path and we reached a primary waterfall called HIDLUMANE and we couldn’t enjoy much as the light started shading.

 It’s party time:

Ee jaagdhal kud dhu kud dhu koothru, kick yerdhe irodhe ondh magiku !!!

On top of the mountain, there are no options for food except for the “bhattara mane”. We rested for 30 mins once we reached bhattara mane, and started the party. Opened the bottles, then we started talking “hithavachana”. Swalpa kathegalu, swalpa neethigalu.

Way to the Peak
After resting at bhattara mane having had a party at night, it’s time for us climb the hill little up in the morning to reach the peak (view point). There is a shankaracharya peeta on the peak of the hill (view point). Entire environment was a show of fog and Drizzling rain. We couldn’t even see the sky and waiting for a sight of sunrise in rainy season would be a great madness.

Driving down the Jeep after visiting the peak and reached the foothill at 11pm.

The overall trek was good. The main attraction in Kodachadri is sunrise and sunset. As I said it was a rainy season, it’s very impossible to see those 2 natural beauties. “Though we couldn’t see those 2, we enjoyed the breeze, fog, Leeches, Slippery paths and the Drizzling rain. A pool of all these urged our Trek, An adventurous one”

“Neeralli naav thelbahudhu, ee jagadalli Nam manns na araamagi thellak bidbahudhu ”

The unknow story:
The Sanjeevini Parvatha that Lord Hanuman carried to cure the wounded Lakshmana, a part of which is said to have fallen here.

Best time to visit:
July to September: best time to enjoy the rain (Difficult to trek as the paths are very slippery and leeches will be more, but one can easily take this adventurous step.
October to January: Best time to see the sunrise and sun set and trek paths will be will be good But NO FOG, NO DRIZZLING RAIN.
